The last blog entry

The Blog as personal journalism helped my self to increase my English language skills. I’m not sure in how much I followed any rules of journalism and writing for a blog but I really enjoyed talking and writing about a topic I’m really interested in and I know a lot about it because I ‘m in my exchange year and I hope that because of this blog everybody else who is interested in a year a broad could have get some important experience and information’s from this side. That is also the point for every other blog if it’s an interesting topic. Blogging is becoming bigger and bigger in the modern world and I think for journalistic researches and publishing it’s a good way and for the author him or herself it’s a way of expressing itself on the blog with it’s own style and way of writing even in specific topics. A lot of teenagers and others are using blogs today to present them in their own blogs and write it as diaries this is in my opinion not necessary. To sow the world what your working on with information around subject and interesting facts will be more important than ever. The computer and especially the world wide web is given us more possibilities than  ever before and so if a person from North America wants to find something out about an actual story in Europe he or she will have web addresses to blogs of European journalists to read their stories and discuss them. If it’s necessary they can send comments and can even talk with them on the phone but there are not so dependent of their oral contacts.

City or town

City or town

To go abroad means to leave the own city or town behind and find a new community. Especially in Canada it happens really fast that the exchange students are coming to a small community. The numbers of inhabitants can reach from bigger cities like Regina (SK), Calgary (AB) and Montreal (QE) to small and familiar communities with 100 inhabitants. Most of the students are searching for an adventure of lifetime and want a difference and most times it’s a shock when you come from a home city with the population of 600.000 or more and get to know that you will spend your year at the end of the highway in a small community with 150 people and the next bigger city is 45 min. away. It doesn’t matter where the student spend his or her life when the host family is willing to do things with and for the student. In small community is the advantage that everybody knows the exchange student from the first day on and that is also a little bit scary but the student never needs to explain why he or she is there. For sure the whole community is watching the student and that is sometimes hard to accept for the students. When everybody is cooperative even the smallest community is big enough for exchange students. Most of the exchange students who went to small communities loved it but also hated it to be so far from everything. And the students who went to bigger cities complain that the schools are so big and huge that nobody notices them and it takes them time to get involved. But at the end also these students enjoyed their year. It is not a matter of the size of the community how good the exchange year is. It always depends on the student and on the host family and how cooperative both sides are in acceptance each other.

My this week blog is under first step!

Why this topic

Thanks for reading my blog. It's my journalism 20 project and you'll read every week new thing on here.

This blog is to inform everybody about the situation of young exchange students from all over the world in Canada. For those who never heard anything about an exchange year. An exchange year is for students in the age between 16 and 18 where they can leave their natural home and country and go abroad. There they have to go to school and find a new Day in their hostfamilies. You don't need to be a special type of person or nationality to go abroad you just have to like the experience. For a lot of exchange students the most important point for going abroad is to learn another  language but also the independece and the adventure is important for most. It's also popular for the exchange students who want to prepare themselves for the university at home or perhaps in their hostcountry. There are a lot of different reasons to go abroad. When you decide to go on a exchange year you have to two opportunities. The first one you can organize everything by yourself and the second one is to find an organisation. thats the most popular. The organisation is responsible for finding a hostfamily and a school for you and most times also to book your flight and plan your trip from your homecountry to your hostfamily. In preparation for exchange year and during he year itself you get to know a lot of differences between the homecountry and the hostcountry. Thats why there will be always new facts, new feelings, new concerns and new problems. Of course there is a lot to say about finding hostfamilys, worries of exchangestudents, experience of former students and what to do when you feel homesick.

So enjoy the year full of adventure and discovery!
